New Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit Visits Commonwealth Sites To Check Progress

Amidst concerns over the pace of infrastructure projects being built for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit made a personal visit to many Commonwealth Sites to take stock of the progress. She was accompanied by Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta, PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and other top CPWD, Delhi Jal Board and MCD officials.
Dikshit visited the Barapullah Elevated Road Project, which is one of the main infrastructure projects and will connect Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to the Ring Road area closer to the Games Village. This elevated road is being constructed to provide seamless movement to and from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium which is going to be the main venue for the prestigious games. The project is being carried out in 2 phases and is expected to be completed by end of March next year.
A presentation was made to the Chief Minister to apprise her about the progress of all commonwealth related projects and she expressed satisfaction regarding the pace and manner in which the work was being done.
